Announcing Adalynn Dryden's Arrival

Born at 7:17 am on 5/5/09 she's our cinco de mayo baby so we get to look forward to yearly fiesta's!

She weighed 8lbs 4oz and was 19in long.
We had an exciting time getting her here. About 1:00 am Tuesday I started to bleed really bad and a lot. My thought was I don't know what is going on but this doesn't look good. So we headed to the hospital to get things checked out. The bleeding seemed under control and I was dilated to a 4 so the Doctor decided to just start me and get the baby here. I was a bit nervous but ready for the baby to come at the same time. A few hours later some small contractions had started so I was to the point of being uncomfortable but not in a ton of pain, but then I started hemorrhaging pretty bad so the Doctor decided we'd better get the baby out so we could stop the bleeding. Losing that much blood had worried me but when he said we had to do an emergency c-section I just wanted to burst into tears. I really didn't was to have a c-section it just sounded scary. But I knew there was not much option at this point so I decided I better get myself under control and not make things worse. The nurses were great as was the anaesthesiologist, they really helped make me feel comfortable and safe, in the very scary and rushed situation. The anaesthesiologist did a spinal block that numbed me from the chest down, and then they wheeled me into the surgery room. Joe put scrubs on and and was able to be right beside me the whole time. There was a sheet blocking my view of them cutting me open thank goodness but I can't express the joy in hearing her cry and then the excitement of seeing her beautiful face, I noticed right away the small dimple in her chin which comes from my dad. I couldn't help but cry a bit in the excitement of it all. She was so perfect and beautiful and thus far I hadn't had to go through much pain to get her here just some fear and a ton of blood loss, between 1500 and 2000 cc's or about 8 or more cups of blood. I spent the next couple of days in the hospital recovering and enjoying the yummy food and them sticking me with needles I was so glad to get out of there last night. We learned that the cord was pretty tight around her neck a couple of times and under her arm so the Doctor said had things worked out for her to come vaginally we most likely would have run into problems and had to do a c-section anyways so we were so so blessed that things worked out the way they did the worst part of the whole thing was staying in the hospital so long and these dang staples in my tummy, oh and choosing a name for her. But I have to give the credit of the blessing to Joe because all of my complaining the week before and being frustrated with pregnancy and the lack of faith I was having didn't deserve much, So it was all thanks to Joe's patience with me and his faith in the Lord that we were able to be so blessed. And we are now home and loving life with our sweet little Adalynn.

After taking a bunch of pictures I decided I won't ever think I look cute in any of them so this is what you get. Why do we think we need to post pregnant pictures of ourselves anyways?


And how come pregnat people look so cute untill its you that is the one thats pregnant?

Now don't everyone comment saying "Oh i think you look so cute," its not going to make me feel better. My Mom took me shopping the other day for some clothes and that helped me to finally start facing the fact that I am looking pregnant. I have been in denial for a while now. But I know I need to look at this getting bigger thing as a good thing cause it just means the baby is growing and healthy, which I am very happy about. And we were able to find some cute things to wear which was fun. Oh yeah if you read the last couple of posts I am doing fine now I have been off of bed rest for a week or so now which has been nice. I am feeling great and everything is looking just fine. I just can't believe that I only have 2 months left before this baby is expected to arrive! The time has gone by really fast!

I've seen this tag a few times, thought it was time for a new post and this seemed like a good one. Especially as my appreciation for my Husband has grown 100 times greater now that he has to wait on me all the time.




1. What is his name? Joseph William Dryden

2. Who eats more? I eat more at breakfast and he eats more a Dinner. But we'll say he eats more on average just to make me feel better.

3. Who said "I love you" first? I did

4. Who is taller? Joe is by just a couple of inches.

5. Who is smarter? Definitely he is by a long shot

6. Who is more sensitive? He can be kind of sensitive, but so can I so I guess it depends on the situation

7. Who does the laundry? I do for the most part

8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Looking at the bed he does

9. Who pays the bills? He earns the money to pay the bills and I write the checks.

10. Who cooks more? Until this bed rest thing I did. But he's keeping busy with that now.

11. What meals do you cook together? The ones where he is home when I am cooking and is not trying to get something else done or ready to go somewhere.

12. Who is more stubborn? I'd say he is.

13. Who is the first to admit they are wrong? I think we are both actually pretty good at admitting when we are wrong. It may take some time but we eventually come around.

14. Who has more siblings? We are both the 3rd of Seven.

15. Who wears the pants in the relationship? That's a good question I guess it probably depends on my mood.

16. What do you like to do together? Everything except probably hunting. I am not to into going hunting with him.

17. Who eats more sweets? That would be me for sure!

18. Guilty pleasures? His? I don't really know. Probably buying the most expensive of just about everything.

19. How did you meet? Cookie Night. On Sunday nights while I was going to BYU-I my parents would have a cookie night. Me and my roommates would go and we'd bring along anyone else who wanted to come along. My roommate Kim's fiance Trent invited his roommates and Joe just happened to be one of them. My other roommates thought he was quite the guy and two of them were actually fighting over him. I thought he seemed nice and was cool.

20. Who asked out who first? Well to continue on with the story the semester ended and Joe went to work in Jackson Wyoming. And I was living at home getting ready to go on my Mission. Well Joe, Me and my roommate Tara (one of my roommates that liked him) decided we would All drive down to Boise together for Kim and Trents reception. We all had a ton of Fun. And then after that Joe would come down and visit me on the weekends. So basically there was no asking anyone out we just started hinging out and that was the beginning of our happily ever after.

21. Who kissed who first? We'd been "hanging out" for about 2 months and would joke a lot about kissing and me filling my canteen before the mission. So while we were both a little serious in our joking we we're not sure if the other one was. But while alone at a scenic lookout in Jackson Wy and after some "leaning" on my part Joe finally kissed by. I Don't think I have ever seen him or anyone else for that matter that nervous, I just had to help him out a bit, hence the leaning. Oh and the funniest part was that it was seriously just a peck and that was it, we went back to the car. Only cause our we were with Kim and Trent and Trent kept texting us telling us to hurry up.

22. Who proposed? Joe did in the exact same spot where we had our first kiss. While he was nervous with the proposal he still wasn't near as nervous as with the first kiss. I think he had a better idea of what the outcome would be with the proposal.

23. His best features? I LOVE his blue eyes! And i think the dark hair adds a lot to them. When I was little I said I wanted to marry someone with dark hair and blue eyes. I also Love his smile

24. What are his greatest qualities? He is so determined in living the Gospel and keeping his covenants and I love that! He works extremely hard and does his best at whatever he sets his mind to. He respects me. And he makes me laugh. He really is just amazing.

Quite the Valentines day!

Sorry its so long.

Valentines Day started out well. Joe went to Work for a couple hours in the Morning and came home for breakfast with a beautiful rose for me and a picture of us in a beautiful frame he made. It made my morning, then I went and helped him work on a few things at the shop for a few hours (this wasn't my idea of an exciting valentines day activity but we need the money so what can you do. We then went to the temple which is always nice and when we got home Joe made me a Really Yummy meal. I was quite impressed! And started thinking he needs to cook more often. We'll sadly I think I got my wish. That night we went to bad and I woke up about 2:30 and discovered that my pasts where all wet. When I got to the bathroom I realized it was what I would describe as watered down blood and I thought, this really doesn't look good. After I got myself cleaned up a bit I woke Joe up and told him we needed to change the sheets. We did and then I called my mommy (at 3 something in the morning, sorry, but hey that's what moms are for right.) She said I should probably get to the hospital And after some debating I decided to call my doctor who said he'd meet me at the hospital shortly. From what I had told the doctor he was a little worried that my water may have broken. If this was the case they would have to get me to Ogden but he reassured me that with the baby at 28 at weeks and the technology we have the baby would have a very good chance of survival. At that point I got a little worried and Joe was scared to death. Joe gave me a blessing of comport just before we left to the hospital and It really helped a lot! I was quited calm and sure everything would be OK the whole time. They ran some tests checked me and did an Ultra-sound to check my fluids and make sure there was no amniotic fluid coming out. And the gave me a steroid shot in the bumb to held the baby's lungs develop just in case she was on her way sooner that expected. After checking everything they discovered that my fluids were good and the was not sign of amniotic fluid coming out. They also discovered that the placenta was low and right next to the cervix which would explain the blood. I was still bleeding so the Doctor wanted to keep me there and continue monitoring me and the baby. So after one long sleepless night for both Joe and me I was hoping to be able to go home and get some good rest. I was quite bumbed when they informed me that the doctor wanted to keep me there all day and maybe until the next morning. So I spent Sunday in the hospital eating yummy hospital food and getting my belly rubbed with jelly so they could monitor the baby every few hours. It was quite the experience and I was just hoping the doctor would let me go home that night so I could sleep in my own bed. The bleeding throughout the day got less and less and they checked my fluids again that evening and since things were looking better I was able to go home around 10:30 pm. and boy was it nice to sleep in my own bed. Now the reason that I think I got my wish about Joe cooking is that while the Doctor let me go home he put me on bed rest for the next week or two. I've only been up a few hours and i am already sick of this bed rest thing. But I decided I had better be good because I really don't was to go back to the hospital. So if you have any suggestions on good books or movies or any sort of activity I can do while sitting or laying Please, Please let me know. But I am doing fine really! I feel great I just have to take it easy so that all will continue to go well. So that was our fun weekend. And i just have to brag about how wonderful my husband is! He has been so concerned and so good to me. The first thing he did after we got the sheets changed was drop to his knees and I don't know how many other times I noticed him bowing his head in prayer and It just made me feel so lucky to have such a great example in my life. He is just too good to be true!

Its a Girl!

Our most recent Ultra-sound revealed to us that we will be having a baby girl come May. She will be the first grandchild on Joe's side and the 7th Granddaughter on my side. My family was hoping for the first grandson but we are all pretty excited for another girl. The radiologist said that if its a boy he's gonna have some problems. He also said that everything looks good and that she is growing and developing properly which is so nice to hear. We are really getting excited! I can recognize now when I feel her kicking which is pretty cool and Joe is just getting anxious for when he can feel her kick also. My Christmas present to me was going and buying an outfit for our little girl. There are way too many cute baby clothes out there, but here is the one I picked out.



I've had people bugging me about posting a picture of me looking all prego. I really have no desire to take a picture of me standing there with my belly looking all big and fat. I don't know why maybe just cause I think I look fat not pregnant. So here is a family picture we took the Saturday after Christmas and it has a pretty good shot of my belly. That's as good as its going to get for now and maybe when I look more pregnant and not just fat I'll post a belly shot. But we'll have to see cause that is just awkward. While I'm at it I'll just post some pics. of the awesome Christmas we celebrated with my family. We had such a blast this year with everyone home!

My Dad and Mom are going to Hawaii in January. My Dad decided to model some of his presents... and dance in the snow. We were all laughing so had! This made Christmas for all of us I think.









The ginger bread house we all spent hours working on. We had a blast getting creative with this.

The Need for Something More.

Well Joe and I decided that there was something missing from our blog that seems to make all other blogs more fun and exciting to view. We decided that to get people to check out our blog once in a while we needed something more, so... we decided it was time to add a new member to our family. As of May 9th (roughly) you can plan on a more exciting blog with pictures of our little baby. OK so the Blog really had nothing to do with our decision as I am sure you all can figure out, but we are expecting and really excited about it! And a bit frightened too. I am about 14 weeks along and I can't complain cause its gone really well so far. I haven't been sick at all really, just feel a little weird sometimes. I get worried sometimes because I am now responsible for the health and well being of a delicate little life, that's scary! But so far all is going well and we are just praying that all will continue to go well. So if you think about it pray for us too. Thanks!

Pumpkin Walk

Well North Logan puts on this thing called the Pumpkin Walk, each year they have a theme, this year it was Hero's, and people from the community create scenes or poeple with pumpkins, gords, and squash. It is amazing what they do. Our favorite was Noah's Ark. They did an amazing job on this one. We also liked one that was a farm scene. We were amazed by the creativity of these people. So if you are ever in Logan around Halloween you've got to see this. Its awesome!
